One of my favorite places in Minnesota is the Minnetonka Regional Trail. Having grown up just a few blocks from multiple points on the trail, I have spent many hours traversing the regional trail to a variety of destinations. Before I was of driving age I was allowed to use the trail to reach points near my house—candy shops, beaches, coffee shops. I love the trail’s accessibility and length; running from Victoria all the way to midtown in Minneapolis, the trail has plenty of destinations to choose from. My absolute favorite aspect of the trail is the beauty of running down it at that perfect point in summer when the trees canopy certain bends making it a safe, shady tunnel of green. There is no better feeling than being enveloped in that summery glow of sunlight through overhanging leaves.
I would recommend the trail to anyone looking to traverse from one point in the western suburbs to another without using a car. There are many points of attraction located along the trail: shopping, swimming, eating, drinking and many city parks.
