Many think of Minnesota tourism only occuring during the summer, but there are plenty of places to enjoy our State in the winter too, such as the North West Company Fur Post. Various events at the post this winter include playing a round of snow snake, tossing a curling stone on the ice and snow shoeing along the nature trails. Moreover, learn about winter travel during the fur trade at the annual winter frolic. That day’s highlight will be dogsled rides provided by New Moonshine Huskies of Pine City (weather permitting). The North West Company Fur Post has received Legacy funding for its Online Fur Trade Interactive Experience. The Minnesota Historical Society also received Legacy funding for Innovative Training Opportunities for Minnesota’s Teachers which provided historic site immersion at North West Company Fur Post.
