Whitewater State Park

When I moved to Minnesota in 1979, Whitewater was one of the first places I went. Have been going there since. Love the winters beauty and so do my schnauzers ….mother Lena and daughter Bella. We live on the Zumbro River north of Rochester, but the dogs LOVE to romp in the park. I also have been winter open water trout fishing every year since they opened the season in 1987. Sometimes up to 30 times in the months of Jan, Feb, and March. There is something magical about the valley that draws me there. The people who work there are and have always been first class. The main headquarters has some incredible bird watching…displays…and Sara Grover the naturalist always has some great things to do for park attendees. The beautiful white sand beach on the swimming pond is a huge draw in the summer. What a wonderful place to experience nature at its best. When you are done in the park you can go to Elba and have 3 choices of excellent places to eat and enjoy a beverage. Johnnys….Mauer Brothers….and The Elba House. There is also a fire tower that you can climb and get incredible views of the valley. Go…you will not regret the time spent.

Whitewater State Park has received Clean Water, Land and Legacy Funding to create a plan for a new campground.
