Coon Rapids: A Legacy Destination

Awarded a Legacy Destination in 2013 by Conservation Minnesota and Minnesota Citizens for the Arts.

Several locations and organizations in the area have received Clean Water, Land, and Legacy funding.

Thanks to the Clean Water Fund,

  • The City of Coon Rapids created an inventory and provided public education on the city’s wells and source waters.

Thanks to the Parks & Trails fund,

  • Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park restored land along the creek through native vegetation and bioengineering.

Thanks to Arts and Cultural Heritage Funds,

  • Community artists assembled the 11th Annual North Artists’ Studio Art Crawl.
  • Anoka-Ramsey Community College got to put on their Minnesota Potters series, hosting and displaying several noted Minnesota ceramic artists.
  • Rhythmic Circus Productions made its performances available to several communities in wider Minnesota.
